Food with friends

Craving a way to meet new people, rebuild community in LA and get back in the kitchen, Food With Friends was born in the summer of 2014. A monthly dinner series, each meal brings together 16 people for a seasonal and thematic menu driven by local and sustainable ingredients. Though what is on the table is undoubtedly the star of the show, it is the people around the table who make these events so special. Every month, friends and strangers sit around a table, put their phones away and break bread together. Casual, warm and home-y, guests become family over flowing wine and a home cooked meal.

The way it works is simple. Once you’re on the invite list, you get an email invitation a couple of weeks before the next dinner. A speedy response guarantees you and a friend a seat at the table...This ensures that each FWF event introduces new people to the community and no one is ever really on their own. There is a minimum donation for each seat at the table and every dinner is BYOB with the help of pairing recommendations offered in advance.

“I enjoy Carter’s approach to story and conversation through food. She is wonderful at taking people’s backgrounds and personalities and using it to create a dialogue that brings people together. Food is essential to who we are. It’s not just the pleasure of taste, but it’s memory, it’s emotion and connection. Carter is great at creating a community using her creativity knowledge and talent.” - Ahmed Best, Director, Producer and CEO, Best Innovation Story Network
